I constantly make new bases even though I haven't been raided for a LOONG time now. A soft reset sounds nice.

I'm a fan of the soft reset, although I cannot lie...and I recognize that having Creative means I have no stuff to worry about, I still like a full reset, get everyone back to 0.

Edit: I have just added a "soft reset" option because of all the talking. Feel free to re vote if you feel it's necessary.

Might need to wait a bit for people who want to change their vote to do so. We can let this poll roll for a bit.

    Voted for hard reset.

The reason I think a hard reset (the deletion of player data files, homes, and the map) would be interesting is that the whole world would generate fresh, and everyone would have reason to work together, to amass stuff, who knows maybe PVP will pick up.
But considering I only play when my school is on a longer break - feel free to discount one vote for hard reset if it is a close call.

Every new world has proved that the same players regroup and adds about 2 weeks of "newness" and then everything goes back to the prior norm.

I attempted a friendly group building team called StoneShovels a long time ago, it lasted I think a month, maybe two, before the bickering and betrayals happened between players over past events. However the build area was looking nice up to the griefing.

I voted for "Do nothing, I like the way it is". I am not sure about the majority here, but I do not like to have to be forced to reset a game (new world; have to restart surviving). I do not think resetting would solve any real problems, It could be a worse option.

I do not think these "pros" outweigh the cons of a hard reset.
    - A new, reset world could deter players already comfortable on this current world (they may not like being forced to restart. Also, an action such as reseting spawn area or area outside of spawn (eg: 3,000 blocks (x and z) around 0,0 or so), can/has been done without a reset.
    - New blocks can already be found in unloaded chunks, and I bet the majority of this current world is still unloaded. So this move would be unnecessary.
    - "Possible new spawn and arena". This can and HAS been done without a reset.
    - "All ranks carried over". Well, of course they would. Same as the ban list will carry over. This is not a pro it is something that is always going to exist on the server.
    - "Creating a small world to increase raiding" This idea (although I support...) was shut down very quickly last world reset. Why integrate it now, the player base is much smaller now, and in my experience the majority of players I knew did not support making the world smaller in the past.
    - "Possible world download". Could be fun to play around with but I see no real point unless someone wanted to start a survival world or server using the world.

I support keeping the world how it is. I feel that the cons outweigh the pros in this situation. Although ultimately it is up to the staff, so I hope you all can take time to understand and discuss mine, as well as everyones', responses. Thanks for reading, I would be more than happy to reply and or give more feedback if possible.
    Thanks - Dextile

I enjoy the idea of a hard reset.
However, I'm the kind of person that's not used to commitment. I abandon my bases within a week and make a new one anyway.
A soft reset sounds fairly pointless to me as all it does is make players run out and build a new home. I guess it'll be a benefit for the newer players if he chunks are with the recent update though.
Currently, the map we're on now seems fine to me. You promised last time that there wouldn't be any new resets anytime soon (although, I guess it was a fairly major update..).
I fully agree with Infi on the whole "You were going to prioritise events and games to keep the playerbase entertained". I do realise that you're all busy, obviously, but it's been planned for so long that it's just fallen out of the priority list entirely.
You saw how intrigued players were when you had [Event] managers. How everyone loved doing things.
Or even PvP events. Anything at all would do wonders.
Regarding the border, I always found it to be excessively big. Especially considering we aren't really known for having a bigger number of players online.
I remember advertising was a bigger thing on the list, but I can't say I've heard anything regarding it.

I'm throwing out any thoughts that I have.
But don't take me too seriously, I come and go - and I haven't been on recently. So I barely know how players feel regarding it.
Best of luck though, it'll be interesting to see where this goes.

This is also what I feel ends up happening too.
What are your thoughts to a soft reset with a decreased border?

Honestly, I think it could be a good compromise for both sides. It allows more space for 1.9/1.11 chunks around spawn, and players can restart if they choose too. If it comes to this or hard reset, I would definitely vote for the soft reset. My only concerns with it would be: losing my bases, and I think the portal should be open for a long enough period of time, that MOST players, even inactive ones, would have time to: find out about this, travel and make a new base then move their items.

FYI, the 1.11 Roofed Forest Mansions has a placement spread of about 50K apart from spawn and each other.

It would be really nice to get some sort of resolution to this. Now that the word "reset" has been thrown out there I'm not entirely sure what to do on/with the server. Depending on which of the 3 main options (no foreseeable reset, hard reset, or soft reset) are decided upon will directly effect my behavior. Doing nothing means par for the course: continue as I have been. A hard reset means there is absolutely no reason for me to log on for even one second until after the reset. A soft reset would mean it's time for me to start categorizing what items I want to keep/can't live without and begin farming new building supplies for the future world. I'm leery of logging on and spending time doing... anything, really if there is a possibility it will all be undone in the near future. At the moment I've just not been playing at all while waiting to learn our fate. Regardless of the answer I don't think a delay in determination will help the player count.

We are currently in the process of getting our new world loaded up so we can do all background setup before it is released to the public to start transferring items.(To clarify we are doing a Soft Reset)

    Soft-Reset is coming soon.

I say do nothing or just expand the border. Like Infinite talked about, so many bases are undiscovered and will remain that way for a very long time. If you want a fresh start, go to the spawn with some gear and delete all your warps and "start anew". I have not been playing for a while but I plan to start playing again and it would be nice to have my huge base I have worked over a year on when I come back and play. That's just how I feel about it. Either way I will always play on CCMC! HHAAAZAAAHHH!

As well, I was once promised from jflory there will never be a world reset again. Looks like that wasn't the case!

Now before anyone gets mad/annoyed at staff for doing a world reset, please wait until the official post is made and all the details are public.

(I'm not saying anyone seems mad/annoyed yet though lol)

If your going to do a soft reset are you going to give us our pig spawners sense we can't mine them?
