    Ive noticed no one as posted anything on here in over a year and wanted to post something to end the streak, but also had a good idea.
    Why not have a monthly or like several monthly build battle on creative server? Doesn't have to be anything specific, just anything that comes to mind. Could possibly be a prize for Top 3, 5, or even 10 depending on the circumstances maybe? In my opinion I think this could be a good idea, but not really sure about everyone else's tbh. and if this does somehow turn into a thing, there could possibly be a sign or something saying "Enter Building Competition" and when you click it, it takes to creative server/your building space. Hopefully this becomes a thing imo and thanks for reading this.

    I like this idea and it's a shame that it hasn't been brought further.
    Whether it's different themes each time such as;
    • House building (Futuristic, Oldschool, cottage, modern, underwater, skybase, underground, etc)
    • Pixel art
    • Boat/Ships
    • Cities/Towns
    • Cathedral/Churches/Moqsue
    • Medieval
    • Redstone (Where they have to use a functioning redstone mechanism)
    • Roman/Aztec/Egyptian inspired
    • Christmas builds
    • Summer inspired
    • Farms/Farmland/Barn

    Prizes could be anything from a rank, to a badge on the forums (Competition winner or another name), to materials on the survival server, perhaps a enchant, or a specially created book for the person.

    Perhaps worth taking into consideration again? ♡︎

    In my experience building competitions are difficult to get together and pull off, even when we had the creative server to use. A week or 2 after this thread was made @_stevoism_ tried to hold a building contest that was ultimately cancelled due to lack of interest. Any server event requires a lot of coordination and the active participation of at least 2 staff members (Even a drop party is easy to lose control of if only one staff is present) so having a recurring event of any sort puts high demands on staff positions and with something like 1.13 coming with all of its issues, bugs and revisions it just isn't possible, even if we wanted to. Even without a major update looming most of us have full-time jobs, wives, children, schooling or all of the above that require our attention and precludes us from being able to commit to a regular gaming schedule.

    That isn't to say there won't ever be another building contest but now really isn't a good time and I can pretty much guarantee that no one will be available to hold one repeatedly. I, personally, favor server activities that don't require any staff involvement, can be done by everyone on the server at their leisure, and makes the winning reward available to everyone who attempts it rather than the best player who happened to be online at the time of the event. The Maze is a good example, the Elytra course could be one, a parkour as well perhaps- I'm much rather spend the time and effort constructing and automating things like this rather than moderating a build-off. Sandfall, spleef or some sort of racing could be additional proctored offerings but I'd like to have them designed for a single staff member to operate so they can be played whenever a staff member is free and feels like hosting it.

    Right now I have an unusual amount of free time and I've been dedicating it to working on spawn and the shops but 'Things to do' is never far from my mind and I look forward to bringing in more stuff for bored veterans to do. However, given the activity of the server and availability of staff, most of the additions are likely to be automatons that you won't need staff to participate in.
