CrystalCraftMC

Official website for the semi-vanilla Minecraft server CrystalCraftMC.

Hey CrystalCrafters,

Imagine for a moment if a hacker knew your account password. Or perhaps your biggest rival on a server. What if you lost everything you worked so hard on to gather?

Sadly, this is something close to a reality. If any of you remember from a few months ago, there was the big Heartbleed security hack that could let a hacker retrieve private information from a website, such as account passwords.

Whether or not this is related to Heartbleed is unknown, but yesterday, an unknown hacker released account usernames and passwords for over 18,000 Minecraft accounts. On top of that, he is threatening to release over 500,000 more.

There's no way to know for sure if you are on these lists or not, but there is one way you can definitely prevent someone from getting into your account if you are on the list.

Please change your Minecraft account password immediately!

The last thing I want to see is any of you lose access to your account because of what a hacker is doing to terrorize the Minecraft community. The hacker who released the Minecraft accounts is the same hacker who has hacked Mineplex and Oc.tc, DDoS attacked several major servers, and took down the Minecraft multiplayer session servers last night.

If you are still using a legacy Minecraft account, I would highly recommend migrating to a Mojang account so your email is required to log into your account, not just your username.

To change your password, please go here.

Again, I emphasize how important it is to change your password – the accounts have already been leaked and there could be more coming. Don't risk losing your Minecraft account because of a hacker. Please be proactive and change your password immediately!

Also, on an additional note, the server staff have been instructed to delete any posts linking to the hacker or his website. He is illegally distributing content stolen from any...
Hey CrystalCrafters,

We have had drastic changes to the world reset plans, and to help explain what's going on, @fortification45 and I have put together a video with all the info.

Hey CrystalCrafters,

Finally, after a couple weeks, this is the post many of you have been waiting for. The staff and myself have been working diligently on the server and planning out all of the big things coming up, and we finally have an official statement to make for the future.

In this post, I am going to be talking about four things:
  1. World Reset
  2. New Staff Ranks
  3. TeamSpeak
  4. New Shop Payment Option

World Reset

I think this has been the largest and most important thing that many of you have been waiting to hear about.

If you've been following on the forums lately, we have been discussing the possibility of a world reset. Sadly, we do not have any other option than to reset the world because the overworld has grown to a monstrous 70GB, and continues to grow every day. Our server's hard drive can only contain 92GB maximum, and we are dangerously close to running out of room again.

For those of you who have been around for over a year, you may remember when this happened last July and last December… we want to make sure everyone has more time to move worlds without the risk of running out of hard drive space before the deadline. It is our goal to make this process as easy and simple as possible.

If you weren't here in December, what we allowed for our players to do was to travel between the new and old world freely by way of a portal. This portal was kept open for roughly two weeks before it was closed down and the old world was deleted. We are planning on doing this again for the upcoming world reset.

So, to help you plan out what to do, I have some definite aspects that will happen in the new world.
  1. There will be a world border of 5,000,000 in each direction from spawn.
  2. The Nether will have a world border of 50,000.
  3. The End will have a world border of 1,000.
  4. There will be a portal to connect the new world to the old world for a period of two weeks....

Hello CrystalCrafters!

After a week of review and consideration, the staff have come to a resolution about the fate of the Nether and the End. We have taken the poll results AND all the written posts into consideration, and we have evaluated all the different sides to this issue.

Because of hard drive space limitations and the opinions expressed in the posts for the original poll, we have decided to do continuous resets of both the Nether and the End every two weeks.

To answer some burning questions about this, I will try to answer to the best of my ability.

When will the resets begin?

The resets will begin on May 18th, 2014 from as early as 12:00am EST. From that point onward, the resets will begin on a regular basis every two weeks. We will put a special [TIP] in to help remind new and old players about this, but it will be up to you to make sure your items and valuables are out of the Nether and the End once the two week mark has been reached. We will not be making warning posts about it on the forum.

Furthermore, just because there are two weeks to get moved out of the Nether and the End, I would highly recommend not procrastinating this. Our Nether has reached a precarious size, and I cannot guarantee that our hard drive will make it that long. If we run out of hard drive space before May 18th, we are not responsible for your items or valuables in either world! So, please be proactive about this and begin making preparations to move everything out of the Nether and the End as soon as possible.

Is Nether-Traveling back?

Hello CrystalCrafters!

Today, I am posing an important question to all of you here in the community. As most of you have probably heard, travelling on top of the Nether (i.e. bedrock) has been disallowed since December 2013, when we ran out of hard drive space on our server.

Because of that, we have had to be strict on the way you use the Nether and the End because we have to make sure that we don't have a repeat of last December, when the hard drive ran out of room and there was a bit of downtime on the server.

However, we have an idea that may make a lot of you happy, and we want to see what the masses think of this idea before we make any final decisions.

Our idea was that if we reset the End and the Nether on a regular basis (either every two weeks or once a month), we can permit travelling on top of the Nether again for the players who preferred to use that as a way for travelling across the world. Again, I emphasize:

This would bring back Nether-travelling!

Now, depending on how things might go, it could be once a month, or if it's getting too big too fast, it could be once a week. We cannot know for certain yet until we allow it again. But we would like to give you all as much time as possible to enjoy the Nether and the End before they would reset.

I'll leave a poll in this post, but if you have more opinions, please weigh in with your opinions in this thread! Words mean more to us than numbers, and if someone does a good job of explaining one side, it could be the deciding point in a tiebreaker.

Thanks everyone!

Hello CrystalCrafters,

As some of you may have noticed today, the website has been down and up for the past few hours. If you happened to log on the forums earlier, you may have gotten a little friendly message that the boards were closed.

Well, I'm here to tell you why!

Because of the amazing financial contributions we have received from donors, as well as the amazing support by our most active players, we have been able to upgrade the server that our website uses! This upgrade gives our server more RAM (so a faster and more responsive website) as well as anti-DDoS protection!

Overall, this upgrade is another "thanks" to our awesome community. In the upcoming future, I'm hoping to set up "mirrors" to the actual Minecraft server to help people out who live far away from where our server is hosted! More details coming on that soon.

Enjoy the upgrade! <3
If you are missing items from the Old Nether (January 25th) then please send Rae a message with the following information so it can be recovered quickly.
  • Coordinates (if known)
  • /home (at the time of January 25th or now)
It is REALLY important that I know one of those two things in order to get what is missing for you
I would also ask for an idea of what I need to look for and grab.

Side note: I will not be saving blaze farms to move over.
Please send this information in as soon as possible.

Also: I already have this information from @Bigfoot1105 and @InfiniteCorners.
Hello CrystalCrafters,

After the new website move, as some of you have noticed, the new website was lacking a place to submit staff applications.

After much planning, we have completely redone the Staff Applications into an entirely new format, as well as redo many of the questions that we ask.

The ultimate effect of this is to get more detailed staff applications, and to help us filter through them.

Right now, we are not really looking for a high number of new staff members, but you are welcome to apply if you feel so inclined. You can apply here, or you can just click the "Forums" tab above and go open the page from there too.

Thanks, and more news coming soon! We have some big plans for the future.

Cheers,

Hello CrystalCrafters!

Welcome to the new site! We officially launched it Friday instead of April 12th because I wanted to launch it while I would have time to fix any bugs or problems with the site. So far, everything has gone very well!

Firstly, I want to give a big "THANK YOU!" to all of the beta testers who have been using the site for the past couple months. @MCMiningCaveman, @Gluumba, @BlackRavenClaw, @Chief_Hawk, and @atlecti4life, just to name a few! Thank you all for the help, and I will come up with a way to give you a more appropriate thanks soon.

Furthermore, the Beta Tester Feedback forum is being closed. All future discussion about the website should occur in the Website Discussion forum.

Now, finally, the really important thing – the new webstore.

As part of the new website, we are now using a new system for handling donations and purchases in the shop, and because of this, all past history of donations have been wiped. There was no way for us to recover this data, and we have to start anew.

However, I do not believe that anyone should have to re-purchase their donor rank all over again. Not only do I think that is isn't unnecessary, but I think that would be unfair and unjust to all of our loyal donors over the past year.

So, for now, the solution is…

If you are a current donor and want to upgrade your package at any time, you must PM jflory7 on the site and ask for a special upgrade coupon!

You will only need to do this once on the new store. Once you have made a purchase for a rank on the new store, your amount paid will have been logged and recorded, and the prices should return to normal.

Thanks everyone for your patience, and I hope you all enjoy the new site!

If you have any questions or...
Hello CrystalCrafters,

I just wanted to share some interesting news about what we're doing on our social media pages this week. Over the course of the week, we will be doing two things.

The most important of these things is, obviously, the public beta of the new website! As you all already know, we're planning to open up the public beta on March 7th, and we're going to officially announce it on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+.

Since you're all donors already, feel free to share that tidbit of news with other players, and get your friends on the server to like and follow our social media pages! You can find us on Facebook at /CrystalCraftMC and our Twitter handle is @CrystalCraft_MC. While you're at it, feel free to give us a shout on either page!

Additionally, we're going to be posting Minecraft news on our social media pages throughout the week, and the information we post will be used in the Trivia Questions at the weekly Drop Party! That's right – just by checking our Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ could earn you a diamond block! It's not too hard, just read what's going on in Minecraft, and then answer the question on Saturday for a chance to earn the coveted diamond block!

I'm certainly excited about all of the new things we have in stock for the server, and I can't wait to get the new website open. I find it much easier to use and keep with than our current site, and I hope you find it the same way as well.

Until next time!

Cheers,
- jflory7
